To celebrate reaching our 3000th Twitter follower, IYA2009 in the UK is giving you a chance to win a fantastic prize: a Galileoscope. If you don't know about the Galileoscope, you can read all about it here: https://www.galileoscope.org/ Needless to say; you want one!
We also have a stack of astro-books to give away to lucky runners-up.
How do you win this excellent telescope kit? It's really very easy:
Tweet us your "Galileo Moment", the first time you remember looking up at the night sky and properly observing it, instead of just casting it a quick glance. It could be the story of your first view through a telescope, but many of you may never have used a telescope before, and that's just fine. Naked-eye observating can be every bit as rewarding, particulary during meteor showers such as we experienced this week. However you first observed the sky, you'll remember it, and we want you to tell us your stories. The challenge is to tweet it in 140 characters or less!
Simply write us a tweet that looks like this:
@astronomy2009uk My galileo moment was... #galileomoment
Don't forget to include the #galileomoment hashtag or we won't be able to find your tweet!
All entries will be put into a hat and the winner will be picked at random on the date of the next New Moon, Friday 18 September 2009. We will also include a selection of the best entries on our website.
Good luck, and we look forward to reading your Galileo Moment stories.
